I bought this coin at a market in Bangkok in 1989. Can't remember what I paid but it must have been cheap because I was just backpacking around the world back then. Anyway, have always pretty much assumed it could be fake but have held out hope that it might be genuine. I know next to nothing about coins so please excuse the post if the coin is so glaringly fake that it almost blinds you. Regardless, would like to know more about it either way.

Thanks,

Jaime

Looks like it was collar-struck, which is a good indication of a copy. Also, the edge is reeded, not colonial.

Looks like a tourist copy - the design on the coin is not correct (it's not a coin made to fool collectors)
It doesn't look like an old copy either, considering the way it was done

Haha, forgot to mention that all the design elements are wrong. It's funny how the brain works when you get distracted in a middle of a thought.

Found it very interesting that on the bottom right of shield where another castle should be is what looks to me
a modern factory. Hence

In addition, the pillar side shouldn't have to cabbages. They should be representations of the globe, with the two pillars on the sides having the words PLUS and ULTA on the ribbon instead of placeholding slashes.

It's the Cabbage Patch pillar dollar.
