Hello,

I am picking up a lot of silver half dollars around $11 to $12 each. This is a good price, but selling some back on ebay becomes an almost waste of time due to the high fees involved.

How might other services stack against ebay?

I appreciate your help on this.

teletrade makes you grade all coins for selling. fees are high both ways buyer and seller I only buy when I get a really really good deal.

Heritage and Teletrade are auction houses while ebay is a marketplace, BIG difference between them. Neither of the auction houses would be a good venue for selling bullion-grade coins as they require certification for everything.

I look at buyers fees at auction houses as part of the price & bid accordingly. Having said that, I agree that auction houses are not the right venue for bullion and/or lower cost coins.

ebay is the discounted option for selling at auction. You are looking at total 11%-12% fees between listing, final value and paypal fees. Being a top rated seller also cuts 20% off the final value fee.
Any reputable auction house will charge around a 30% total fee between commission and buyer premium, though how they split the two varies from one auction to another. Many seem to do 18% commission and 12% buyer premium.
Your only real free option is to sell through an ecrater account, though they do not have an auction format.
Of course, there are always the CoinCommunity member auctions. =)

I searched this thread out before starting a "new" one, posing the same type question.

I have been doing more research on TPG coins and seeing how the recent prices have shown trends on how much to bid on certain items. I am not really surprised on how much mark-up people are placing on items that they buy at below cost trough a previous auction, primarily Teletrade. I was looking at some PCGS items and they list recent activity for certain certification numbers, and there is a large gap at times, both high and low in direction. I wish that I had an example, maybe later tonight.

I registered to a couple of these other auction houses to see if I can get in on some of these deals...we'll see.
