I just picked up a new batch of re-processed 1943D steelies to use for those "special" elongates this coming summer. I have pretty much depleated the dealers stash of these ruined coins so hopefully he won't be passing these as BU gems to customers anymore.

Wow, just looked at the pics. My cat Coco (a 70s cat) is sure he saw some just like these while living on the kitty commune. Jim

I'm not really a collector but I do have a few. I've found them when they jam up the coin counter at the bank, and I have to disassemble the blasted thing to get the coin out. I do have one really cool elongated- it's on a Barber dime. I posted pictures here a while back, but I can post them again if anyone wants to see it. Rachel

Oops, I posted the same picture twice. Trying to work around the cat here and she makes a better door than a window. Try this one... http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...5135818_misc 011.jpg I keep getting an error message no matter how I try to post this link, anyone know what I'm doing wrong? The pictures of the reverse posted fine...sigh. Rachel

Gary Burke, you said: "I have a folder for them, but really have done almost nothing other than bring them home and put them in a drawer."
What kind of folder? I mean, how does it hold them? Most of mine are not flat. And where did you get it?
Mine are in a baggie in a drawer and I'd like to do something with them.
By the way -- I do have duplicates I'd be willing to trade. Maybe I should list them in the trade postings.

If any of you serious collecters of these want one from the Walker Minn general store, I will be up there in June and would gladly make some if requested. Let me know as June gets closer with what year penny and how many if you're interested.

Now I just have to remember this until June. I will put a list in my tackle box so I will be reminded when we get there, but I hope you can send a reminder as well sometime in late May.

I have this one,it's an elongated dime.Sorry, the scans are bad,and don't really do it justice, but I think it's neat, and put it with my tokens. :) sn31 Image: ElongatedDime.jpg48.68 KB Image: ElongatedDimeSide2.jpg43.25 KB You can't tell from these scans, but the date is readable 1967.
