I just found this LMC roll searching and it was the sound of it hitting the table out of the roll so I weighed it 2.4g is this in normal range for weight ?
There are no signs of PMD what do you all think about it ?
Thanks in advance ,
Matt-

Definitely not normal weight range...Make sure your scale is calibrated properly (I am assuming it is but never hurts to check..do all other copper pennies weight 3.1g's) If so the strike looks good I would state the obvious...its some kinda planchet error. I am not experienced in planchet errors so I'll refrain to the pro's. I would say its a really good find.
Rest in Peace

I have weighed it a bunch of times in a row and it ranges from 2.4g to 2.5g Checked a copper 3.1 and Zincoln 2.5 so I can assume that is calibrated

I do not know if Philly was striking any foreign coins in 1975. For simplicity's sake, I will assume they were not which would make this a coin struck on thin metal stock. It displays weakness associated with think stock, take note of the soft broad rims and extreme weakness opposite the base of the bust. The presence of luster also eliminates the possibility of PMD, lightly circulated but still a lustrous AU. For those that have difficulty seeing luster on brown copper- look at the rim arc from LIBERTY to IN and TRUST down to the date and the area around AMERICA and the Memorial bays on the reverse.

In 1975 The Mint was striking 5 Sentisimo pieces for the Phillippines. They were 60% copper and 40% zinc, 2.5 grams and 18.4 mm in diameter. Problem is they were striking them in Denver and San Francisco. (But they may have been preparing blanks in Philadelphia, I don't know.) That seems to be the only close size and weight piece possibility I can find.

I agree, no PMD....thin planchet stock or struck on the Sentisimo planchet as Conder said.

Interesting find!

Definitely a premium of some sort, thin stock would probably be worth around $10 but it would be more if struck on a foreign planchet.
I really like it because it is my birth year
