I would assume that those 61 people read your post and had absolutely no idea. Just like me. I, however, took on the arduous task of conducting a round of exhaustive investigative research to divine an answer to you query.
As a result of typing a few words in a Google search engine I was able to determine with 100% certainty that
1. You are asking about this auction;
http://www.onlineauction.com/index...._-_.99_CENTS
2. Results of previous auctions found in the above referenced search have shown prices realized from $20 to $135 for a VF note.
3. The value of that note lies somewhere between the two values mentioned in item 2.
Mind you, I have no expertise in Colonial notes. I would check back after another 61 views and maybe you'll have another answer.
(Sorry, but I find it interesting that people post something relatively arcane and get really surprised when nobody has a quick answer, and post in amazement of the number of views that have garnered no response. I'm sure there IS someone on CCF that DOES have some level of expertise with Colonial notes that could offer a more definitive evaluation, but that person was not one of the 61 that read this. And remember...what it's worth and what is its value are two separate and distinct things. It may have a value of the $300 that I saw one priced at, but may only really be worth $20, or $75 that I saw comparable items sell for. Value is intrinsic. Worth is relative. The note from the auction looks good, and looks legit, and if I was into Colonial notes I'd have no qualms about throwing a $50 bid at it.)
I hope you have found this...somewhat helpful.
