The feds recently sold 125 large denomination notes that they stole from a ganster.
The last time a major hoard of high$ notes hit the market was when the Huntington National Bank found and sold a batch of them when preparing for Y2K. They depressed the market for years.

as long as they were face value, getting one of each would be great and strange.

http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/new...ims-20110822Isn't the article I read, but popped up on a search for gangster $500 $1000 chicago125 notes is a fairly sizable amount, I'd say comparable to a newly discovered roll of svdbs coming on to the market. It's not like there are thousands of collectors putting together sets of them.

The thing that would lessen the overall value of a note is if a large amount of notes not already counted in the population were found like someone finding a hoard in their bathroom wall that had been there for decades sort of thing. If notes are already counted in the population it shouldn't be a significant blow to the overall value.

I think it will affect the market but not too extreme like it will drop the value a bit but not enough where it cant rebuild its self

That's exactly the situation here. Previously unknown notes, now slabbed, and the owner was imprisoned about 20 years ago.

I'm surprised Geraldo Rivera didn't find it first.
