eBay Bucks Update

Dear bonsaikevin:

As always, ebay is committed to bringing you amazing deals on gold and silver. However, to do so, we can no longer offer ebay Bucks for purchases from the Bullion category within Coins & Paper Money. This change will take effect October 1, 2011. To learn more about earning and redeeming ebay Bucks, visit the Frequently Asked Questions page. And remember that you can always tell whether an item qualifies for ebay Bucks by looking for the earn amount below the price on the item description page.

To review the updated ebay Bucks Terms & Conditions, please visit http://pages.ebay.com/rewards/terms.html

We appreciate your ebay Bucks membership and hope you'll continue to enjoy the benefits provided by the ebay Bullion Center, including great savings and fast, free shipping from Featured Sellers--and ebay Buyer Protection for your purchases.

Sincerely,

The ebay Bucks team

There'll always be those that list bullion under "commemorative" though. I know i'll likely start doing some of just that.
But ya, I don't understand the reasoning for it.. money's money

The bucks stopped a couple of potential off-ebay sales for me, with the buyers wanting to keep the transaction through ebay to earn the extra ebay bucks. So I suppose it works for some. My wife did a lot of ebay purchases last month too, so we have $200+ to use come october. Not a bad deal since most of what we bought to accumulate the bucks were good deals already.
Rest in Peace

I believe that you can still use ebay bucks towards a bullion purchase, you just won't earn any for the purchase. At least that is the way I read the letter that I received.

Well a $10,000 dollar purchase would result in $200 ebay bucks. Although ebay would only charge the seller $100 for the auction. With them loosing money on every transaction (bullion or anything) over $5000 I can see them ending it on more categories or lowering the max amount you can earn.
Rest in Peace

Anyone have a quick rundown? Is it a sliding scale, or 2%, or what?

Similar problem to when Discover gave Sam's Club a flat 25¢ per tranaction fee in exchange for exclusivity. Mini-store owners would buy $1000 worth at a time and pay during their grace period. Discover took in 25¢ and paid the cc holder $10 cashback.

Makes you wonder what they're smoking teaching in kolidge.

fyi...So if you want more buyers, list your Silver under 'Dollars'or "commemorative"
Starting 10/1, I will be shopping for Silver were ever I can get ebay Bucks $ back and really don't care which category item is listed.
Don't forget you also get ebay Bucks when you spend your ebay Bucks, so stay out of Bullion category.
you watch, they will stop offer ebay Bucks for purchases from any category within Coins & Paper Money,
then we will need to list Silver under DVDs or Toys to get our eBucks

I have purchased many silver eagles with my ebay Bucks. For a three month period you earn 2% on your purchases minus shipping charges. If you sign up for Bill Me Later and charge your purchase to Bill Me Later till Oct.1st you earn an additional 5%. Which adds up fast. Just make sure you have the money together when statement is due. Right now I have little over $26 coming to me on Oct.1st. Which in turn I purchase another ASE for around $19 give or take. FREE MONEY!

Be careful if you purchase coins that are also listed in bullion. Even though you purchase them
using a search for US coins and Paper Money, Gold, $20, etc...if the seller has added BULLION to the listing you won't get the bucks. I bought a 1852 $20 Lib and did not get the bucks.
Very upset. I called ebay and got only the response that anything listed in Bullion even though that is not the primary listing no longer qualifies.

Maybe they missed the day when it was explained that the primary purpose for being in business is... TO MAKE MONEY!
