You can buy one. It just you need to pay $4.95 for shipping and handling for each order you placed. I bought one SF old mint gold and silver and one 1/4 oz UNC-W. You need to think about what you want to order and order them once. Don't like me, I order my 3 silver proof and 3 silver UNC-W first. Then I wanted more. I called Mint, a lady in mint told me that I only can cancealed order not increase it even when they are not shipped. I ended up paying $5 more for another order. Learn me lesson there.

True to an extent- the coins that the US Mint sells are collector quality coins. Most of those coins are sold in sets, rolls, or bags. Currently, the only coins sold individually are proof and uncirculated silver, gold, and platinum eagles and commemorative issues. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...alogId=10001

One of the good things about the US Mint's shipping policy, if your order is over $200 they will give you a free upgrade to Overnight, on your order. So the $4.95 you spent on shipping is a bargain, considering you get Overnight delivery. I imagine Overnight is way more expensive.

You can laugh and joke about the Patriot Act but there ARE clauses in the Act which include the buying and selling of gold and silver bullion. When they first discussed the contents they considered REQUIRING every bullion dealer in the U.S. to report ALL purchases, regardless of quanity, to Homeland Security! The sad fact is U.S. gold and silver bullion can be purchased all over the world so terrorist, whom they apparently think are coin collectors, don't have to set one foot in the U.S. to buy the bullion and, quite frankly I don't think many terrorists, who claim to hate everything this country stands for would want to invest their money in our bullion? I think investing in drugs would be a much better turn of profit and if I wanted to launder money I wouldn't go down to my neighborhood coin dealer and order a couple of hundred thousand eagles? So apparently there must be another reason to monitor bullion buyers, say er......TAXATION maybe? I do know they lowered the minimum amount of purchase or sales limits to be reported to the government, in any one transactions, from $10,000 to somewhere between $3,000 to $5,000 but the figure escapes my memory at this time. One thing is for certain, if your buy or sell total exceeds that amount by one cent it MUST be reported within a few days to appropriate government authorities. Why? TAXES? Seems odd to me they put so much emphasis on grabbing a few bucks in taxes from a hard working American citizen who has invested some of his hard earned money, from which income taxes has already been deducted, and they are looking for a little more blood out of the turnip? But, millions of people can sneak across our boarders to bankrupt our hospitals, welfare system, and school systems while all the while earning good ole U.S. greenbacks, from which most aren't paying taxes and then sending it back to their home country to benefit the economy there? Something sure does STINK in this whole process!!! As for the Mint, you can BET YOUR BOOTIES they have a complete customer list available to governement agencies on a need to know basis.

If we buy anything in silver or gold and if the price in less than two time of melt (silver at $14 and Gold at $630 per Oz), then the dealer (including Mint) should record our names, etc to Homeland Dept. Since UNC-W ($19) is less than that, Mint should record names, I think.
I already got three ASE Anniv. sets. They have my (our) info from using a credit card. They have the address when they ship. I buy guns with an ATF check faster than this. I think they're automated so much they just put in "delay" or something, and it adds days. The only guy that can ship anything anywhere on Dec. 25th is Santy Claus <GGGG>.

I think the limit still is $10K for these reasons:
I made two trips in from Iraq this year. The customs form and the Immigration Officer's question is still, "Are you bringing $10,000 or more into the country?"
Also, any overseas bank account (U.S. citizens)that reaches or exceeds $10,000 on ANY day must be reported to IRS.
BTW- The $10,000 transaction rule is for cash sales. Checks, wire transfers, etc. are NOT required to be reported (they are already traceable, I guess).

I ordered my set on Sept. 16 that have not gotten anything. The website says "in stock and reserved," but nothing more. I got tired of waiting on hold to talk to a person. Should I be worried? My card does not expire or anything like that, but I am still kind of concerned...

The mint could care less whether you, me or anybody is satisfied with their products or the way they do business. Sadly for us they know that no matter how bad they screw up, delay shipments, or treat us like dirt we will all come back begging and paying whatever they want for more in the future. It's a no lose situation for the mint.

Okay, just to show some kind of time line for those with orders.
My five from 30 Sept are all in the "reserved" mode. However, the two additional I ordered on 05 Nov. show as "1 reserved." Somewhere plus-or-minus that day is apparently the cutoff.
