I have a 1936 Canadian 1cent with the dot below the date.It is not in the middle below and in between the 3 and 6.I know that one is rare. But the one I have is below the date under the 6 to the right.Has anyone heard of this variety.Thank you for your help.

I have to imagine that you have a coin with a dot added to a regular 1936 dated coin.

Since you would have to be able to stamp in the dot with out causing distortion to the rest of the field, these dots had to be glued/soldered on somehow and then the surrounding area was rubbed to make it look like it was part of the normal field.

The placement of the dot was off but then they were applied by hand I guess. Just needed to cheat one guy one time to make your money.

I guess my next question would be do I send to a grading service to verify?.The dot is very tiny but visible.I didn't purchase this coin just found it when I started collecting as a young child and didn't really pay any attention to it till I pulled it out of my colection

Post a photo or scan here first for opinions,
If it's a die chip as suggested by shafta9a it's probably not worth the expense of grading

Thanks for the replys DMB,Colhand1.I agree that I need to post a picture.I would like verification on this coin as it would be interecting to see if a other variety does indeed exist. Would a coin grading company not verifiy this for me?I have to figure out how to post and what method to get the clearest picture on this forum any advice out there would be fantastic.
