This is the "coin" Dutchy's asking about:
Govenor-General-Coin?
Govenor-General-Coin?

It's not technically a "coin" - no date or denomination. Likely a souvenir medal of some sort?

You can find out about the GG on the medallion at:

Some of the Canadian members will no doubt be able to tell you all about the coin/medal.

I think dutchy is also asking about what the furry thing on the "reverse" (non-portrait side) is. It seems to be the crest of the Canadian coat of arms, though somewhat artistically rendered: a crowned British lion holding a maple leaf.

According to Wikipedia, the crest is used as a symbol of the G-G. The G-G's flag consists of the crest on a blue background.
