That translates to about 40 shillings per week. The lower classes I guess would have something like a quarter of this amount. A maid would have free board and food, but would only have five pounds per year for her own spending money. Over the period since then (about 190 years) inflation has averaged about 3.2% (easy to determine with a calculator with exponential function, it took me 3 reiterative steps, less than a minute to do.)
