I just got this today when roll hunting. It was from a fed sealed box that just arrived this morning and still has its tape.

I am pretty sure its a Magicians coin right? Either that or I am about to be rich lol.

To this day I have yet to get a silver coin roll huting dollars or halves. But this was a laugh. Maybe its Obamas way of cutting the deficit 50 cents at a time.

I have had many of those, unfortunately.

The FED isn't giving out fake money. They don't go through the bags when they receive them.

It's a real half dollar that's been modified. Did you get both halves?

I remember getting something like that while roll searching. The first half look just like the one in your picture. The other half had the Kennedy half dollar reverse attached to I think a 1967 English penny. I still wonder what the purpose of it was.

Where can you find these boxes? Do you mean bank wrap?

@ captainwiffo No thats the biggest shocker I just got that half. It is the same thickness and width as a normal kennedy, but it weighs like 1/3 or even 1/4 of what a normal kennedy weighs, which is why I was very surprised to find it in a fed box.

BPOC banks can order boxes of coins to be able to supply public businesses with change. Some times if you ask a head teller nicely they will order you some. Sometimes they come from brinks or other armored vehicle companies, other banks get directly from the FED.

Chris, thanks. I knew about Brinks and others but not directly from the FED.

Scotch and soda

Magician shows half and penny, noting that the penny is smaller than the half.

Victim holds hands out, palm down.

M puts half in one hand, penny in the other, V told to make fists and move hands behind back.

M: I handed you two different size coins. Behind your back, can you tell the difference?

V: Yes.

M: Bring the hand with the larger half dollar up front, and show me. (M shows everyone JFK half, both sides.)

M: So in your other hand, without looking, is?

V: The penny.

M: Very good, now show it to me.

V: Opens hand to show 2ยข piece, nickel, Chinese cash, or something else that's obviously not the penny.

If V is a kid: You lost my penny, I won't be able to do the trick again, and it's your fault!

Or: M gives V the coin he "created" as a birthday present (could be done with up to half-oz gold). Do trick several times to pass out cheap foreign coins.

**********

I can show a five-year-old how to do the trick in two minutes. My absolute favorite close-up coin trick, all the work is done by the faked coin.

Gotta admit, it's a great trick. Costs ten buck and lasts a lifetime, or until you accidentally spend it and it winds up in a Brinks box.
