MS-65 might be a little bit of a stretch, but I can't rule it out, either. Either way, I appreciate all the informed opinions.

1881-s is known for a "wealth" of spectacular strikes..while your last photos show detail, yet the original photos, show luster and "toning"..these latter photo's show neither...
your first photo's show a scratch on the face, which could be on the plastic.but the toning is in plain sight.....Go back to your previous settings and capture the real luster of the coin with no scratch...for a real evaluation...IF YOU want a real evaluation.. show the coin..as it is, not tilted or over lighted,,with or without defects...photo's/lighting and there angles will hide this stuff..do what you will...

at least 64 after liberating her! I love the reverse. S mints are so much nicer than O mints!

I think its mint state and that it cant be higher then ms63 because of the scratch on the cheek.

I just had same year and mint graded by NGC. Mine has rubbing on the cheek and went for a MS 64. I think yours is higher.

Took another look at the two sets of photos... I think this is almost certainly MS-65
