1984 Lincoln Cent - Cleaned? - Coin Community Forum

coinhop Valued Member United States 53 Posts	Posted 09/21/2011 9:48 pm So ... as I am still trying to learn about what is "normal" and what isn't, I am hoping some experts may be able to help along a little. I came across this 1984 Lincoln Cent (pulled from pocket change), and it looked a little odd to me. Is this evidence of "cleaning"? Something else? I tried to get the color as correct as possible, which is tricky, but it definitely has an orange cast to it. And what would cause those striations on the obverse? Was going to add that despite the strange color, it still seems to have what I think is luster in that the light reflects more conically than flat. The zinc does seem to show through in spots - can that be from normal wear, or would that also be from imperfections in the planchet. I can try to get a closer shot if that would help.
