Wow, I'm guessing that's a local source? I'd buy at those prices too!

Yes, it's a good size local gold and silver shop (2 miles away from my work). This older gentleman is the owner and really nice guy. He's the same one who I bought 100z from at his shop for higher than 31 so he cut me a break. We shook hands, I thanked him for his time and said I'll be back.

I bought my first ever gold coin -- a $20 St. Gaudens Gold Double Eagle (AU or Better) at APMEX for $1820. It probably wasn't worth it buying just one coin, what with the premium over spot, the shipping and insurance, and the cost of the wire transfer, but at least I can now say I own gold!

I got some junk silver yesterday. Not a whole lot but the best price I got since last year! Silver is becoming less available so if you wait too long even if prices drop may not be much for the taking. I'm so glad I found a local dealer near me that I can buy any amount big or small. No shipping wires waiting and at a fair price

In the past two days, I've bought 100 oz's of silver. Today, I picked up 50 oz's @ 31 dollars an oz. All Engelhard 10oz bars. Let it drop more - I welcome it with open arms.

Way to go, Trip and Ian... VERY nice acquisitions there.

I'm buying as well... ordered 20 5-oz silver bars plus 100 2011 ASEs. I am digging this price pull-back and plan to buy more if the price dips into the upper 20s.

I went to the shop on Friday, and the owner's friend was there, he offered me an ASE for $33, but I only had enough money to get the seated half I had my eyes on. I went today, when spot was about the same, if not less. However, the owner was also there this time, and he wouldn't let one go for under $37.

I went to my shop and he was "all out". He did offer to take an order at a rate of $300 per 10 oz bar, I passed on it as I didn't want NTR brand.

Sometimes I wonder if they've ever appeared on a show of Ripley's Believe it or Not!

I've seen this brand being offered for sale as well but haven't bought any. I really like the SilverTowne bars. Their finish is excellent, they have an individual serial number, and they come wrapped nicely in plastic. What is it about the NTR bars that you don't like?

Ed - nothing against NTR - I will get it one day, but I'd rather have ASE's or Engelhard / JM etc from a vintage perspective because he was asking the same price for all those brands (with exception of the ASE). The NTR 10'oz were actually gorgeous sealed bars he was taking orders for. I wasn't ready to invest $1000 all on NTR (In TX you have to spend 1k to save tax).
