I think I would refer you to the Ft Worth Coin Club. Surely there is an individual there you can talk to face to face, who can help you learn and understand the resources you have there in the DFW area. They have meetings first Thursdays (except December)at the
Botanic Gardens Center, 2000 University Dr., 7 pm. Phone 817-444-5500. If you arrive early they have coins for sale.
You may not understand the meaning of the phrase "melt." When selling coins made of bullion metals; gold, silver, platinum, often the metal value is worth more than it's collectable value. The value of the metal in the coin is what is called "melt."
Silver coins have many different finenesses. A silver coin that weighs 1 ounce, and has a fineness of .925 is made of 925 parts silver, and 75 parts of another metal. If silver is $30 an ounce at the time of purchase, then it has $27.75 silver value. That would be it's "melt" price. If you sell your coin, the price to a dealer will be lower than if you are selling to another collector.
I hope I made sense!
