If there is one single coin you wish you could own, which one would it be? Date, mint, type, condition.

Everybody got your redbooks? Great. Go to the Seated Liberty Half Section, and look at the 1873 Arrows PF with the AWESOME toning. THAT is the coin I would most like to have.

I could pick a six or seven figure ultra-rarity but that is no fun. I would go for a Mint State 1861-O WB-102 Seated Liberty half dollar which is conditionally quite rare but still only a $15-20,000 coin. What is so special about that you ask? The WB-102 variety was minted under authority of the Confederate States of America and it was struck with the same obverse die that struck the four known CSA half dollars. Historically, this is one of the most important US coins and it is one of a very few select US coins not minted by the US Government. Unfortunately, I will probably have to settle for a much more affordable VF example in real life but at least it will still come with the history

I've moved this to the Main Coin Forum so we can reply regardless of which classification the coin fits into. Me? There is absolutely no doubt in my mind; there's only one coin which fits the bill, and it ain't what you think. There is one 1959 PCGS PR69DCAM Jefferson nickel. It's Pop 1/0, and the oldest PR69 DCAM Jefferson known. It's also the year of my birth. I_want_that_coin.

On the US side,as I am obviously Canadian, I collect small cents and nickles,Jefferson's.The pennies have been the focus but the 'one' would be the 1977 Indian cent, not tough to find just the price is hard on the pocket book. One day soon I will treat myself.

Many have "wished" for unattainable coins, I will be more realistic. I would like a 1995 w ASE, it's mintage is a mere 30,125 and is a type of the dollar of our era. If you compare it to Morgan dollars it has 1/10 of the mintage of some of the extreme rarities of the Morgan series. It would complete my ASE set too.

My choice would be impossible to obtain, at least with certainty of provenance. I would like the very first coin ever minted by the US government for circulation. It would have to be either a chain cent or a left facing liberty head Half Cent since those were the first coins struck by the government. I mean literally the first coin struck. There would just be something really cool knowing you had the first of the billions of coins made over the last 200+ years. It is quite possible that the coin still exists, but I doubt you could prove it was the one.
