I have been looking at coins on Heritage. Trying to just look and better my coin grading eye. My question is I have seen coins that the description says there are adjustment marks. What are they and what causes them?

Weight adjustment at the mint - planchet production was not such an exact science back then. If the coin's heavy, you scratch off some silver.
