neweden Valued Member Canada 272 Posts	Posted 09/26/2011 1:38 pm This is interesting, I have never heard the term noodling before, I understand (from reading the posts submitted here) that it has something to do with sorting coin rolls, but where did the term come from, what is its origins, how do you get from noodling to sorting coins. I am sure the great land down under will forgive this canuck for such a stupid question.. And I do apolagize if this question has appeared in previous posts... Report this Post to the Staff

People would try their luck for opals sorting through the discarded dirt from the miners. steve - Oz 50c man Valued Member Australia 490 Posts	Posted 09/26/2011 7:06 pm with serious coin hunters, noodling refers to the practice of obtaining a significant number of coins, mainly from banks, security companies etc and sorting through them, and returning those you passed over into circulation; however it can also be used to refer to the simple task of sorting through your coin jar. Noodling would be more commonly called "Roll Searching" Cherrypicking however is a different animal. That is when one has aquired knowledge of a certain coin or coins, has good grading skills, and then goes and finds undergraded coins, varieties, or errors in dealers stock.
