Very nice coin muddler
... unfortunate about the bag hits on the obverse focal points ... but very clean fields and appears to be well struck as well.
I've always enjoyed the historical saga of the 1935 Boone issues with the 'extra' 1934 Pioneer Year inscription. This generated quite a bit of controversy at the time seeing as political pressure late in 1935 led to the extra mintage ... after the full 1935 issue was already completed without the 1934 date added.
Your Philly mint 1935/1934 had a net distribution of 10,008 coins ... minuscule compared to modern standards.
Anyways ... following is some interesting trivia ...
Name the three classic US silver commemorative that exhibit a likeness of the same person on both obverse and reverse?
1. Lafayette Dollar with Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Moiter, Marquis de la Fayette (or simply Lafayette)
2. 1921 Missouri half with Daniel Boone.
3. 1934-1938 Boone half.
Soooo ... Daniel Boone appears on both the obverse and reverse of two separate coins ... and the fact is that all of them are artist renditions since no historical likeness of Boone actually exists.
The more I learn about this series the better I enjoy the connections and history.
Thanks for allowing me to share some thought on your fine example.
