hmmm interesting. You're missing the date unfortunately. If you determine it's a copper cent, I'd guess late 70's from how the strike looks

That is a massive cud A Cud is a specific type of die break that affects the face and shank of a die. Yours appears to be multi-stage(at least three breaks are involved) and the weakness on the reverse is a tell-tale diagnostic for a Cud. I would place the minimum value at $25 but probably a bit higher for that size.

That is a major Cud and could bring as much as $100 with decent images. Don't list it until you have great pix.

@John1: Well, actually it's not mine (yet).
The coin belongs to a colleague coin collector, who found it on a flee market in a little box with several old coins.
He offered it to me and I hesitated to buy it because I am a little short of money at the moment (a big auction coming up in two weeks).
After reading the posts I decided to say yes to it, so in a few days I will be the proud owner.
