The vast majority of my coins are purchased through E-bay. I would like to receive some recommendations of good dealers on the web or through this forum that have good raw coins for sale. Most importantly I want to make sure I am not buying cleaned coins.

I am primarilty interested in Capped and Seated coinage. I am familiar with Grand Old Halves website but have never purchased from them. Have any of you all dealt with him?

Thanks for any recommendations.

a good dealer may have some cleaned coins in their case but a GOOD dealer will tell you if it has been cleaned even if its lightly cleaned and you cant tell except with a loupe. One dealer I like online is Harlan J Berk, he notes even the slightest problems and if he says its lightly cleaned you will never see any traces of it, and his grades are tight and have seen some grade higher than his grades

Bryan,

Thank you. I visited his site and am very impressed. He is exactly what I am looking for. He tells it like it is and whats better yet is that he has several coins to choose from in the grades and price point I am most interested in.

Another option is https://www.AlaskaCoinExchange.com
The owner is very good and they have lots of pics of even the medium grade coins.
I have made several purchases in the past and never had a problem.

The only place that I'm aware of that you could be absolutely positive that the coins are not cleaned, would hve to be the US Mint.

And sometines I'm not even sure about them!

Byran,
I went to the Harlan J Berk site I was very impressed like the way he gives a description on all his coins. Up front it is not a toll free number however I will give him a call.
Thanks Bruce.

My goal is to become aware of dealers that will tell you up front if they think or know if a coin has been cleaned rather than buy a coin and get it in hand and realize it has been cleaned.

Ferrett Lord-Thanks for the recomendation of Alaska Coin.
