I think you'd be best off with a nice raw one to enjoy, if you want a proof gold buffalo. The average quality of these is very high. If it has to be slabbed, I'd go with PCGS. NGC seems to sprinkle 70's around like salt on French fries, so I don't know how much their 70 means. At this point, the majority of NGC gold Buffalo proofs are graded 70. Heck, I don't really know how much PCGS's 70 really "means" in this case, either, and I'm not sure about their populations, but I know they've given out a lot fewer 70's than NGC. Good luck with your decision!

I believe that bitters is probably right when he said go and get them from the US Mint. In fact, you might want to buy two and when they arrive, ship them off immediately, one to NGC and one to PCGS. You have a 99% chance of coming out waaaaaaaaay ahead in money be doing this.

ROFL!!! I haven't had that good a laugh in a few days Great analogy, Bitters !!!

I would NOT be willing to pay that kind of money for either coin. I'd also get it from the mint.

I bought a proof from the mint a month or so ago. It's a great coin, no regrets. I'm not sure I'm following this thread though, is the idea to use a TPG to hopefully grade it at 70, then flip the coin on ebay or something?

So, PCGS does not grade many 70s b/c they want to limit # of coins in their population with 70s. Thereby increasing value themselves and not the coin collectors.

Yes, send it to PCGS, because if you send 10 you may get 2 back at 70s...or odds are very good that all come back Deep Cameo 69s

Send 10 in to NGC you may get 5 back graded 70s...

That is the risk when you send to PCGS (high risk/high rewards)...
Since I only had money for 1 proof...I went with the percentage and sent to NGC, IMHO
