This ebay seller has been offering Morgan rolls from the Carson City bank over the last few months. I am somewhat amazed what they are bringing. Seller makes no guarantees so buyer beware. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-SEALED...em3a6ab4dcccI saw someone had opened a roll and was less than pleased. Will admit the end roll coins look nice but are they legitimately old rolls or meant to look like they are? Here was his feedback.... 2-84CC,1 82CC. 17 BU SILVER DOLLARS ..$1600 WORTH.... NOT WORTH $3800 Member id rillbones Edited by cointagous 09/29/2011 12:33 pm

Well, it's already been conclusively proven that this "bank" never existed....

I do not agree with the practice of 'salting' rolls, as these rolls probably are. People should do some research before they blow almost $4000.00 on a roll of silver dollars. Or any coins for that matter.

If I was to buy a roll like that I would pay no more than melt. That way you know you are ok money-wise. There could be counterfeits but that would be grounds for getting your money back.

The only feedback specific to the actual contents is the "NOT WORTH $3800". All other feedbacks are the typical vague like they are not pleased but do not want a neg. retaliation. If it seems too good to be true.....

I've seen these up for auction in the past and was shocked at the primium that hes getting for them too. I believe him to be one of those ebay sellers who have tom, John, Mark and Sarah all bidding up the price or a few very weathly people who like what hes selling. No matter how good or bad the roll was he got a positive review that scared me away.

Quote: All other feedbacks are the typical vague like they are not pleased but do not want a neg. retaliation. Negative FB retaliation from sellers to buyers has not been possible for almost a year now, sellers only have the choice of leaving Pos FB or no FB at all.

I was not aware of the change in the feedback rules. Would it be possible to get a retaliation negative removed from a seller that was ejected from ebay for listing scams? This is my only negative.

The possibility exists that they'll deny the removal based on how long ago it happened, but it's worth a shot. You may also be able to add a comment after the seller's Neg.

I guess ebay dropped negative feed backs from sellers to buyers when they changed the feed back rules. Mine is gone.

Chances are they did that when they nuked the seller.

No, unfortunately it sat there for several years after the seller was booted. It really irked me.

Had the same thing happen in the early days of ebay. I had returned a coin and was not given a refund but instead two neg feedbacks from the same guy using two different accounts. Back then anyone could leave feedback on anyone else. They changed the format shorty after this but I had to live with two neg's for a few years.

SuperDave after reading your post I went and dug up the other thread on here about these rolls. Didn't realize just how long these have been selling on ebay. Someone made the point of saying the sulfur in the wrapper would have toned the coins which is highly likely. The ones in all of his auctions are white coins. I noticed every roll shows one obv and one rev which is unlikely when coins are bank wrapped. Ultimately it reaffirms the notion of paying attention.
