Yes, that is the point I was making. I have gotten caught up in wanting a particular coin so bad I did not use good judgement when I purchased it. The coins JangoFett wants are both nice coins, but I think over priced. If you wait and watch, you might be able to find just as nice of coins at a better price. Far be it from me to tell you what to do or how to spend your money. I'm the last person to listen to when it comes to being patient to buy what you want or need. I'm almost never patient. Good luck on whatever you decide to purchase.

I did some thinking, and I realized that I want a better coin for my buck, so I searched and found this guy. Help-Me-Decide-Please! Galerius AE1

I thought I would be taking him home for $9 + free shipping, but it turns out there's a $10 minimum purchase to checkout . So I'm deciding to buy this one also for $7. Help-Me-Decide-Please!
both together still get free shipping. They may not be exactly what I'm looking for, but I still like them. What do you think?

I like both of these coins much better than the two other coins and the price is about right, especially when free shipping is considered. I think you should go for it on these. As for the Gloria Romanorvm coins, now I have an itch to buy one of those I identified on ebay. I'm keeping my eye on them and if the price is right........

Wow that was quick! Thanks for your opinion jw. I just bought them. And good luck if you decide to bid, those are certainly some nice coins in the links you gave.

Just one question. Can you see what's in exergue on the Galerius? I only can see what I think is some sort of greek letter at the end, and I think I see a K in the middle.

I'm not sure, but I found this coin on wildwinds.com. What I'm not sure of is if there is a letter in front of the "K".

If you look on wildwinds at the Cyzicus mints for this coin, I think you will find it. That could be an "M" in front of the K. If so then it might be:

or the one just above this

You may have to wait until you have it in hand to be able to ID the mint.

Yeah, I'd say it's closest to the second coin IMO. I would think the third would be closest but the reverse inscriptions don't match. Thanks jw. When it arrives, I'll take a good look at it.

Both of these coins are IMHO much better than the ones you were looking at, and at good prices

I'd agree with HKDelta as the mintmark.

Got them today! Very nice coins in hand. I looked at the exergue for the Galerius and I believe it's HT Delta, which would mean RIC 018b, D on Wildwinds. The middle letter looks like a T, and the H looks very much like an M, but I think that's from a bit of corrosion on the lower part of the letter, but because there isn't an MT Delta, it makes more sense that the letter is an H. Also, about the chance that it could be MK Delta from Cyzicus, that would be a possibility, but on Wildwinds, there are no Nob C's with the Genio Popvli reverse for Cyzicus, there are only Genio's for him as Augustus. And RIC 18b D Heraclea mint is an issue of him as Caesar, just like on my coin.

Good stuff - I've started collecting these Genius follis coins recently and they are very attractive coins - at $9 its impossible to go wrong.

Your already starting to sound like an expert Jango are you just using Wildwinds or have you looked at Helveticas tables too?

They are excellent, find them all here:

http://www.romancoin.info/

They download as Excel SSs and can then be filtered / sorted.

Direct download for the Genio xls here:

http://www.forumancientcoins.com/dane/genio.xls

Just remember to select the correct sheet at the bottom of the page (I forgot to so many times when I started out) and away you go.
