What do you think?

Do I have to send this one back too? Am I crazy? Do I just have weird lighting? Am I interpreting what I see incorrectly?

I'm thinking the obverse has some serious stuff going on as well as the right side of the reverse. Shoulda bought it from me . Seriously, how did you like the coins I sold you? I'm afraid that one should head back to the seller also.

Further my last, I don't understand why so many of these are harshly cleaned. They age so well and really develop their own personalities if left to their own devices (so to speak)...

Hate to deliver the bad news but I think the coin has been wiped especially behind Liberty's neck and something about the reverse does not look natural though it could just be the lighting. I would give this coin EF details.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. I was sorta hoping that I was misinterpreting something normal, but I knew it was a problem. This is the third person from ebay I've had to return coins to for cleanings like this. Two of them have 100% feedback. Granted, they've all been very polite about the returns, even refunding shipping sometimes, but it still sucks.

Pretty much all the circulated branch-mint Mercury dimes on ebay are just like this.

@paleoguy: Your coins were great!

Ya know, I'm not going to buy raw coins from ebay for a while. I don't know if you can get these sorts of mid-range dates slabbed in EF40 type grades, but I am seriously sick of this crap.

Sorry captain.

If only had they taken photos as good as what we're seeing here you wouldn't have this type of returns.

May I ask who are these sellers, so I can avoid as well. Please PM me if you prefer.

You can just post the auctions here and we can tell you what we think, or email someone so the world doesn't know about the coin you want to buy and then buy it before you do. I'd be happy to help if you have any suspicions, but others would be better.

If there was anything in the original listing's pictures that gave me even a hint of worry, I would pass anyway. I've posted ones here that I felt iffy about in the past too.
