very cool link. thanks for the post. Should be interesting to see what it actually sells for with the predictions they are speaking of.....Wouldn't be too bad of a purchase, but I wouldn't want just one. Now if they had two for sale, I may consider it. I would need that extra one so I could break one out of the slab.

lol that will be 2 up for auction at the same time. I bet Legend holds on to hers for awhile since this one is on the market now because you definately don't want to on the market at the same time. At least I don't think Legend is in Washington and if she is then there would be no reason not to mention the owner because everyone knows she has one and is selling it, but I think she lives in NJ so this should be a second one Edited to add : well tights heres your chance Legend has one for sale and this one at stacks, Legends is the highest graded one between all of them so you can have the highest and maybe the second highest to crack out and play with or carry around as a pocket piece

We all thought she owned it, but she doesn't. It belongs to a collector with the handle tradedollarnut that posts at CU. Do a quick search for 1913 over there, you'll find it.

ahhh welll then I stand corrected and TDN owns yet another coin I would give my left leg (thats the one that hurts me the most) to own. Does that mean her BIG "I have always wanted to own one and now that I do its time to move it on to someone else" speech was just that a speech?

Yeah, I guess he was happy to let everyone think Legend owned it. He seems to be a private kind of guy. Even in the link posted here, he is a undisclosed owner.

POCKET PIECE? AAAAAAAAAUUUGHHHH!!!!TDN is a rare pleasure to be around. He's an absolute coin nut, as crazy about collecting for the sheer pleasure of collecting, as anyone alive. He knows his specialties backwards, and never passes up a chance to share his knowledge with anyone from raw rookies on up. He's also a man of such means that that 1913 nickel counts as only a small part of one of the very finest overall collections currently in existence. Among other things, he has formed the finest-ever collections of Seated dollars; Trade dollars - individual sets of circulation strike, proof and chopmarked; and Gobrecht pattern dollars. The Seated collection is the only one ever assembled 100% in MS, and will remain that way because there is only one MS 1870-S. The Trade dollar set counts only two coins out of 18 which are not Pop 1/0. He may not own the finest collection out there, but he's certainly the holder of the finest collection who is willing to behave like a typical coin nut. His posts are one of the things I miss the most about having walked away from CU.

thats another story I missed somehow and I did a search for it not to long ago when I first heard about it but I figured that was a private manner and just wasn't something that needed to be asked

seemed she wasn't to unwilling to let people think it was hers as well, at least in all the posts I read she made about her being the owner of it

I just don't think that I want to get into a bidding war with anyone, or I'd follow this auction closely when it happens. I guess I'll just wait for the next one to come up somewhere when it's not so highly publicized. Pocket piece, nah, I'd rather weld it into a nice holder and have for a Christmas ornament on display once a year.

TDN is a partner in Legend, and the nickel in question belongs in a sense to both. Now, let me see if I can't find the link to TDN's site so you guys can see some eye candy.
