Although I'm six years retired as a teacher, I have maintained my part time job as Sports Editor of our local newspaper.

As a Christmas gift, the management gave me a $100 banknote. It is new and crisp. Looks like it has never been handled. It has an interesting seriel number also, with two 1's, 4's and 8's.

I could buy some nice coins with $100, but I could also add the banknote to my paper money collection.

Any suggestions?

Paper is ok, I like it, but if there is nothing unusual about the bill(radar, star, etc,), buy something round and shiny with it.

I agree with Becky. Unless there is something that obviously sets the bill apart from others, I'd also put it towards a coin. The bank is full of crisp new 100s.

Gary, if someone gave me a hundred dollars I would put it towards a coin. I'd look for a single coin to buy that cost about $100, maybe a Proof 1/10th American Gold Eagle, or a an old Bust half.

well how did they give it to you . was it meant as a gift itself A crisp $100. with a decent poker hand 3 pair. or was it just a gift of a $100.00 dollars . If it was the later of the 2 I would sned it to me, no wait I mean buy some coins LOL. LOL either way it was a great gift. Unless it real old or unusual I can n't afford to have a Shinny ne crisp $100.00 sitting around collecting dust. Either way I happy for you and Enjoy it . Take your Bride out for Dinner, and then Buy a coin

Thanks everyone. I was leaning the way you suggested, just wanted some opinions.

I will probably buy something different, something I don't have in my collection.

I would spend it on some special coin or coins too. I believe the coins have so much more beauty and value.
