Hi all.
I was just wondering if there are any 10c collector on the forum? If so who and how many!
I ask because I go through $100 bag of 10c coins from time to time searching for 1985, 1991 and 1997 10c coins mainly. I was wondering if anybody collects these? Does anybody else collect different dates to the ones mentioned?
While I'm on the subject I have some 2010 10c security bags if anybody would like to buy or swap! If you're interested please let me know.
Ben

It's fair to say that you have searched through a few 10c coins Yass! Some of the errors I haven't really heard of before. Do you make sets and/or look for certain years (like 1985, 1991, 1997) as well as the errors/uncirculated coins? I went to the bank the other day to get some 10c coins and they are all 2010 10c armaguard security bags. I'm not sure what to do with them. I would like to sell/trade some etc as I can't afford to keep them all!

I've looked through 1000's with a loupe. I still have a couple of $100 in the cupboard that I simply can't be bothered looking at. I'll eventually get around to them. Shame about armaguard starting to use bags. I much prefer the rolls.
I don't actually make sets, but I do keep EF and above when noodling, especially the older coins. I probably don't have complete sets taken from circulation, but I do have rolls and mint sets that would probably replace the missing ones.

I prefer rolled coins as well but most banks in my area have moved away from them now!
I'm a bit the same in that I don't really make up sets but I keep the better older coins along with the obvious dates.

Yass: That is very impressive! Now I know why I don't collect Australian coins. You would have streeted my by a country mile, and I haven't even got to the starting line yet! I USED to collect Australian coins, and I once had a gold type set, many years ago. Alas! The mortgage got in the way!

My favourite coin amongst the 10 cent errors are the 1999 tail feather Cuds. There are quite a number of them with what is the largest Cud you will ever see on any coin. I don't know if this is the culmination of the Cuds that start out as a very tiny Cud at the base of, and in between, the tail feathers, and then works its way up the feathers until we get the 'blob'. One day I will photograph them. That might demonstrate the deterioration of the die (like a slow motion movie).

Yes I am making up a few sets of 10c. I completed my first set on Sunday. I was astonished to receive a 1985 10c in my change at the supermarket. I think the checkout girl must have thought I was a bit strange.
