I found a 1889 Morgan silver dollar in my Great grandfathers tool box. It has never been circulated but from being in the a dirty place it has dirt spots on it. It is in almost perfect condition (besides dirt) with no scratches, dings, marks or wear of any kind I would like to get the dirt off of it so I can see if it has luster and have it accessed. Any suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks,
Robert

This is a circulated coin, and I must also tell you its got the BATTLE ship grey color of an original uncleaned coin...by your photo's which are all partial shots, I'm, guesseing about a VF35/40 AT BEST... it could be in the vf25 area..with no overall full pic's its a crap shoot...

I'm certainly no expert, seeing as I have fairly recently gotten into this hobby myself, but my guess is that most experts will tell you that if your intent is to maintain the highest value, unless the coin is dirty from something that will cause it to be damaged if left on (like PVC), then you are better off leaving it uncleaned.

From what I can tell, this coin appears to have normal wear, so I wouldn't touch it.

Your coin has most definitely been circulated based on your small photos, I can clearly see wear. What you see as "dirt" is actually the natural patina of a circulated silver coin. Cleaning the coin will certainly damage it and it will be left with a very unnatural appearance which will decrease the value. As it is, you have an 1889-O(New Orleans) Morgan silver dollar in Very Fine-Extremely Fine condition worth approximately $40.
