thought this was interesting... this LMC is the same diameter and rim thickness as a dime.
I'm guessing it was struck on the wrong size planchet? Or does the fact that the rim is actually rolled over the lettering indicate is was the correct planchet and this is some kind of PMD?

It's either a Dryer Coin (a coin that's been bouncing around inside an industrial clothes dryer) or has been spooned (hammered along the rim with a spoon by some kid that wanted to use it in a vending machine as a dime).

i'd bet on the dryer - the edge is perfectly smooth (no spoon marks!) how comes I never thought of that... all that dime soda pops I could have gotten for a penny...

it's still copper, so PMD.
someone probaly made 50 of these to fit into a roll of dimes and pass-off as $5 roll of dimes.
I just got a few rolls of penny that had cardboard taking up room in roll.
The *(&(# person that did this passed off rolls of pennies containing 35 cents!
I got 20 rolls from 2 banks, so I don't even know which bank these few rolls were obtained.
well at least I know it was not a good guy coin collector, like us because there was a 1944 wheat inside. I still need to look at remaining coins when I have time... maybe *(&(# put a 1914-D in roll too?

The wear on the coin isn't consistent with being in a dryer for a period long enough to do that to a coin.

Never heard of the "spooning" thing...maybe before my time. Question, if you were to hammer something, wouldn't you use a hammer, and not a spoon...wouldn't it take forever to spoon a copper coin?
