jessvc1- Hmm interesting. The second image has a central design feature which is indicative of the Ottoman empire as well as other states which were under Ottoman influence. I really cannot tell you much more than this since my command of Arabic and Persian is very limited at this point. But, ultimately, this coin may turn out to be early modern rather than ancient.

If I have to guess, and that's all this is, I would say this is Islamic. More than likely Ottoman Empire coin. But again, this is totally a guess on my part.

so far from what I can find online it definitely looks like its from the ottoman empire. I see the center symbol on many coins but cant find one that looks exactly like this one.

Ottoman empire, unable to make out the domination but the date is visible on the first image the the coin is upside down though. The date appears to be 1155 AH, which if I did my math right is 1740 in our system.

Though it's very badly corroded, the accession date on this coin is "1255" (1839). The regnal year is on the other side, beneath the toughra.

Click here, then compare the size of your coin with the 1, 5, 10, and 40 para dated 1255 (KM# between 665 and 670).

Sap- Good catch!

jessvc1- I hope that this was a mistake on the part of the dealer, and that s/he was not just trying to bamboozle you. (And I hope that you did not pay too much for it).
