1921 Morgan Dollar You Versus ANACS

If it came back 63 or lower I think they missed or there is something the photos are not picking up on. The reverse is a bit soft in places but strike should not affect the grade. I guess they're setting themselves up for re-submissions?

I just seen this thread for the first time, but there is no way that coin is a 62! I agree with everyone else, and will say that the coin is at least a 64.

I mentioned this in another post on a different ANACS graded coin and I really think they undergrade their coins now. They are cheaper and easier to get coins graded, but I don't think they are as accurate as they should be.

I'm assuming the scratches under the eye are on the holder. typical sharp strike for the year. luster average but may be a little weak on cheek. surface preservation is AVG+ with minimum marks and scuffs on the obverse. the reverse probably would grade MS64+, obverse MS64. overall this is nice 21 and should be in a MS64 holder.

Panzaldi, yes the scratches under the eye are sort of semi circular are on the holder.

dave700x, never did resubmit this one, I did call them about it, but they told me at the time it would take around 30 days before they could get to it, no guarantees, so I never went any further, they also never gave me credit on the 5 coins I paid for VAM varieties to be put on, and they did not do that. October 2010 was when they went to ANACS for grading, it was the last time I used their services. Heck even the President was someone I considered a friend, and they never even returned my multiple phone calls over a $25 submission fee, on an order of $500+

The reason this popped back up was the photos were lost in the Photobucket fiasco, and I wanted to show GrapeCollects this coin. so I fixed the old missing photos.

Well I got good news, I found it myself!

The grade itself is plain inaccurate. I line up with everyone else in that this coin is an MS-64. I'd love to know what made ANACS think to cut this, but there's no way to know. Above average luster and strike for the date with the usual staining issues, I'd honestly see this at the top of the MS-64 range, either as a MS64+ or MS64A. If you still have the coin, what is that line running from the 1 in 1921 to the gap between Stars 3 and 4 left on the obverse? Looks sort of like a die crack or depression. Maybe that's why they cut it? Assuming that's not damage of some sort than yeah 64 is right. A bourse floor choice 64 every day.
