I have an ebay account and just went through and reported EVERY coin hes selling! I HATE people like this! I feel bad for the 5 people who have already bought from this seller! Anyone else with an account should also report him, let's get this scumbag off of there! It's people like this that keep me from buying coins from ebay!

How about the 55 double die he sold for $1580? I don't know enough about it to validate it. If ebay finds it a forgery, paypay will reverse the proceeds. Anyone know enough about these to report it?

ebay pulled all of this seller's items but one, a 1918-S Walker Half that appears high-grade:

This one's likely a fake, too, and is currently bid at $10.

Way to go CCF !

But what about that 55 double die wheat that he already sold? It would be $1500 out of his pocket if ebay found that one to be fake. Does anyone know enough about it to make the call?

Nothing there when I looked, maybe e-bay gave him the boot?
But he will be back tommorrow under another day, but the same fake coins.

As previously stated, one item remains, a 1918-S Walker:

I seriously doubt that this one's genuine. It's now bid at $35 with two days remaining. The pics are a bit hazy, so I'm reluctant to call this a CC. The motto, in particular, doesn't look right to me. Also, the reverse rim appears to have micro-craters that suggest to me a form of casting, perhaps? In general, the wear pattern, central on both sides with a sharper perimeter, is such that I've seen on many a Chinese counterfeit.

Take a close look at the mint mark, it's the wrong size, too large, and orientation compared to a real 1918-S half.

I'd say the 18-S half is fake as well.

I also looked at his completed auctions and with the exception of the lot of ten circulated V nickels I would say that all of them were fakes as well.

When someone lists this many fakes, counterfeit coins, it seems to me that the act constitutes a scheme to defraud. Given the high amount that these fakes would likely fetch, that would make this crime a felony, methinks. I wonder then if ebay has any obligation to report such attempts, criminal schemes? If they did, and so advised all sellers of these counterfeits, then perhaps there would be fewer such risks taken by the fraudulent sellers.

The key is KNOWINGLY defraud. The seller could just say that he was reselling coins he got elsewhere and didn't know.

Generally, I'd not disagree with this statement, BUT that's for a court to determine. I do believe that, in this case, the described "coins" were offered without any question as to their authenticity. IMHO, there's sufficient evidence to warrant investigation and perhaps charges. Ignorance of the law is not necessarily an excuse ...

Realistically speaking, what are the odds that a relatively new seller on ebay posts a handful of high grade rare coins worth thousands of dollars; and, all counterfeits, with no returns? IMHO, this is a scheme to defraud.

The 1918-s half, likely a counterfeit, sold for $82.
