Dear notfast,
Unlike sports cards, three or four coins of the same date are very different because of where they were made.
There is a "mint mark" on the coin which tells you so.
If you want more information, ask the members here and they will be happy to help you out.
Example:
On a Morgan silver dollar the mint mark, if any, appears above the letters "D" and "O" on the reverse
(tails) side. It would be a "D" "O" "S" or "CC"
[ONE DOLLAR -- ONE "MM" DOLLAR]
Denver, New Orleans, San Francisco and Carson City, Nevada.
The last holds special "magic" to collectors.
And no mint mark means Philadelphia.
