Ok Peter Are you pulling my leg? I can find no reference to a "type 2" 1930 penny. To quote different strokes Quote: What you talkin' about Willis?

Based on Stevo1962 and Appleangel07's verification that this is the real deal. That raises a question, Why would you sell something like this on ebay? Surely you'd be better off in an "official" auction. Got me stumped. Oh, and now I'm really disappointed that I can't afford this one. I still need a 30 for my set.

Quote:Why would you sell something like this on ebay? I saw a coin of this quality sell for $27000 at Nobles in Sydney last year and there would be a wider audience on ebay so maybe he's just seeing what is out there by starting high and hoping for a reasonable offer

Hi Peter Thomas What a lovely "one of a kind" 1930 (Type 2) "roo" penny. "Made in China" on the obverse perhaps ? Squire

I agree completely with stevo, spare cash, buy it & see how you go. Considering those PMD notes that I saw the other day both sold at ridiculous prices, then anything is possible!

Its overpriced a bit I reckon. Looks genuine to me as well but the colour is slightly strange.

Real, not real. Whatever. $8 for shipping a $40,000 purchase? Really? Really?!?!

It's often done to make buyers believe a coin has genuine mint red but they end up making the coin look cleaned.

Looking at some of the other items this seller has, I'd imagine it's purely the yellow glow from a light bulb and it's night time when the pic was taken (hence the bulb being the only light). I'd hardly imagine you'd purposely try to add yellow to a florin. (see below) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-Austra...51102304396?

Genuine for sure. It's such a shame that items like this are treated with such suspicion on ebay. A bit overpriced for sure. If it was mine it would be free postage and I would pay for extra insurance out of my own pocket as the profit margin would be quite healthy. If I had the cash I would buy it as I know that if it was fake there is no doubt I would get my money back anyway.

Thats for the advice re the lighting walter. I'll have to remember that one.
I didnt see the $8 for shipping lololol if I was foinf ro pay $40k for a coin I would pick it up in person. You can buy return airfares anywhere in the country for under a $1k, surely its worth the peace of mind.

If I was the seller I'd go one step further enworb. The seller would be nuts to rely on the post for delivery of a 40 grand coin. - the coin could get lost in the post (I have had envelopes delivered that had been damaged and were missing coins). - the letterbox may be raided. - a signed for registered letter could be signed for by a another person (they never check for i.d. and they don't read the signature, I have signed as A. Hitler and Ossama Bin Laden without raising an eyebrow). - the recipient may deny recieving the coin and make a chargeback. The only secure (for peace of mind) way is for the seller to deliver in person and film the delivery
