I'm collecting all denominations, all possible years of all US coins. Possibly the only coin I'm not interested in lately is the Liberty Head Nickel. Otherwise whatever I see that I like.

I collect in series, but I also have a US Type set (7070) and collect non-US coins by type (although I have not been actively collecting the world coins for almost ten years now).

Definitely not series collecting for me - sounds dreadfully dull :)

I voted 1-2 Series Non-Exclusively. I started out type-collecting, but along the way got caught up w/ IHCs & CWTs. Most every purchase now is between those two areas, but if something else comes along at a good price, I would definitely consider it...

I do have a complete set of Lincoln Cents, but that's only because I cheated and bought the set already complete. Other than that, though, I'm strictly a general type collector.

I collect world coins by type and don't care about dates. There are some exceptions which are interesting in other way like dots after date (Canada) or different fonts and surroundings. When collecting by types there are usually cheap dates in different series to acquire - no worry about rare dates!

I am collecting all sets from France of the Francs period plus anything from Luxembourg, except the modern, needless proof issues. Did complete last year two sets, many, many still remaining.

Boy ima all over the place. Mind u, my interest in coins is solely silver and gold proofs, starting at 1 oz and I;ll do the fractionals as well.
I been trying to stick with certain governments. Now granted some may say how boring, like if you are buying proof gold eagles, well all that changes is the year lol. Same with Silver Eagles
But, like say, Mexico Libertads... they have fractionals. I have skipped the fractional pieces and instead only stuck with the 1 oz proof. The silver Britannia's also come in fractionals via their proof set. Now there I would make an exception and am now leaning at collecting besides the BU and proof Britannia, getting the annual proof silver set, even tho 99% of my 1 oz silver coins are either BU or Proof.
So I mean ima all over the place.. I wanna stay with a series and type.. but I have decided that I want to be flexible.
Same thing happened to me with the China panda silver. I cant get a proof each year of a Panda, because a 1 oz proof panda doesn't exist for every year with the same image as the BU version. Sure, they might release a medal (proof) and they have a 5 oz proof but there's no issue of a proof version of their BU panda 1 oz silver coin.
So, as a compromise, I am going to get a sheet of Pandas since I cant get a nice 1 oz proof :D I know it sounds weird but I do this with my collection to keep things flexible and varied. :D

Right now I am focusing on the 2007-2011 Presidential dollars. Still have to finish filling the Dansco.

All of my collection consists entirely of pieces acquired as individuals, covering the whole of issued coinage from all cultures over 2,500 years. I have have made an effort to generalise my collection, not specialise it. As such, my collection attracts interest from people who may have no numismatic interest themselves, but can appreciate the role of coinage in the development of World history.
There ARE one or two other collectors here in the CCF, who collect in this way, and have extensive collections, built up over decades.

I'm just passionate about coins! I would love a collection of every type, sub-type, year from any and every country in the world. I don't have any gold coins but have a few silver. But a complete collection of that type just isn't within my financial scope. For me it is the sheer joy of coming across, say, a German one pfennig 1987J which I did not have in my collection as much as a British colonial silver Indian 1 rupee 1926.

I "kind of" do..... What I usually do is focus on a set and when it's complete or near complete I start focusing on another. However anything else I'm missing or that looks attractive I'll get too besides the set. Example: A year ago I focused on Buffalo nickels until I managed to complete the series but was buying other coins too. For the past 6 months I've been working on the Mercury dime series and now only have one to go. Since the 1916-D is way out of my league when I get the only other one I'm missing.... the 1926-S ..... I'll consider it complete. I did this with Indianhead cents, Lincoln Wheat, 2 cent copper coins, Liberty nickels, Shield nickels and silver Roosevelt dimes too. This has been going on for the past few years and it's worked for me..... my sets are complete or near complete with exceptions of a few key dates. It's always something to get.

I collected serie's for a long time and have about 25-30 completed Dansco albums. I started to get jaded though and switched to currency in area's that can't be completed just to keep from being bored. I am also trying do a type set similar to a 7070 but all NGC or PCGS slabbed.
