The other coins were four Kennedy half proofs, 1966-1973 dates. A 1971-S and 1985-S Proof Roosevelt dime. A 1907 Barber dime. Some foreign currency including two 1939 Nazi Germany coins, and a few more odds and ends. I was happy :)

Gives me some hope for the numerous yard and garage sales conducted in New England all the time! Nice find! So what did you pay?

For these, $5. I then went through the rest of his coins and picked up some more. Nothing like these though

Not a garage sale, but got an Indian Head cent out of the CVS self-checkout last week. Beat to the Bejeezus with an indecipherable date. Gave it to the the clerk I know and said "This is old, save it." She liked it.

Just an update, I sent these two Franklins off last night for slabbing. I figured what the heck, I only had a couple bucks into each one.

Awesome deal. I might have to hit up a few rummage sales this season As others have pointed out it would cost more to slab then them than the return on your investment on the grading cost.

Sent them off last night to be slabbed for $10 a piece. So all in, I've got $12.50 a piece in them. If they come back 65 or higher that would just be a bonus. I figured what the heck...I was already slabbing 22 Morgans so I threw these in just for the heck of it.

Why not? I'm anxious to see what they come back graded at. Of course, I bet you are too.

Who did you send them to? $10 each for grading from a top 3 TPG is a steal.

Sent them to ANACS. Our club was having a special, as our President is an ANACS rep.

Great picks! It's the way of the world - buy low and sell high, just ask any coin dealer. Most non-collector folk who bring in coins to sell to a dealer know little to nothing about their value. They're just happy to walk out that door with cash in their pocket. Knowledge is power (with a few extra bucks thrown in) for the savvy coin collector.
