You did a great job of conveying your happiness and joy with the visit. I'm sure you will think of that trip every time yo see those coins and currencies that you obtained during that trip.

Was there back in October of last year. It's really an amazing place. Congrats on your pickups!

Nice! Denver is such a neat place, I can't wait to go back. I visited the Federal Reserve in Chicago a few years back, and they had a really neat visitor's area (but no gift shop, which disappointed me!). I still have my Fed Shreds!

I have always wanted to do a Fed reserve and Mint visit... one summer I am going to do a coast to coast mint visit... It would have to be something I would have to arragnge for some official reason... but start at West Point, Tour Philly, Visit the Depository, Hit up Denver... and finish it off in San Fran... wouldn't that be fun!?!

Thanks for sharing - sounds like a great trip. The last time I was at the Denver mint was around 40 years ago!
Is that a 1998-S Matte proof JFK?

Nice idea but West Point and San Francisco aren't open to the public. You can look at the San Francisco mint from the outside but I don't think you can even get close to the West Point mint.

Quote: Visit the Depository Are you talking about the Gold Depository at Fort Knox?... You will never get close enough to that place... Back in the early 70's my dad did his basic training there he only went by there one time and he told me you never went over there unless you had a reason to be over there...

I may have a chance to do a fellowship with the department of the mint through my current job... that would be my goal to visit all five locations within the scope of my job... Its a dream... we can all have dreams... If you want something bad enough It could happen... and of course I would tell you guys (and gals) all about it... If I was allowed to...

I toured the Denver mint in 1980 and was very impressed by it. The whole thing was smooth and a lot of fun. I must have spent almost an hour just in the gift shop picking out nice souvenir sets.
It was so much fun I tried the Philly mint too a couple years later. Philly wasn't as much fun and was a little dark but still well worth the visit. One thing I liked even more at Philly was that they had a collection of some moderns of exquisite quality. I doubt they're still there.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
