Off the top of my head, the Legend obverse Seated dime.

The experts debate as to when the first United States Proof coin was struck, but there is general agreement that the Philadelphia Mint started to produce Proof coins on a regular basis starting in 1858. Here is an 1858 Proof dime, which is as close as I am ever to going to get to an 1858 Proof set.

The Stars Obverse dime is hard to find in Proof because it was only issued on a regular basis in 1858 and 1859. The Legend Obverse design was introduced in 1860.

I am sorry. Photobucket has refused to allow me to down load the codes for pictures all day. I am really getting tired of this lousy second rate site that can't do its job. Does any one know of a better one?

It's free and it's specifically for hosting images of your coins to share on forums and anywhere else. Stack's Bowers just acquired them so it's going to have some changes down the road but should always remain free.

Beautiful coins, everyone!

Here is my only classic proof. 1887 Morgan PCGS PF62 in an OGH with CAC sticker.

As my wallet isn't huge, I'm trying to make my type set with a few proofs. For the Morgan dollar, I am considering a PL vs DMPL coin.

I have enough to buy one of the following two coins. There is a $100 price difference. I currently would be upgrading my current examples (and the barber half would be an update from a G6 to that).

What are your thoughts?

If you wanted to go into really hard stuff to complete you could buy full complete proof sets for a year. As far as pre WW2 I have 1889 and 1942. The 1942 is graded from PF65 to PF66 the set is graded by different companies and includes the type 2 nickel I have $800 in the set with a value of $1,300 or so. The 1889 set is my big boy set and is graded solely by NGC and is in their registry as the finest NGC ONLY 1889 PROOF SET including all denominations from cent to dollar.
