Quote: I'd be a little nervous that VerdiCare might affect the color of the coin. I share that same concern, that's why acetone first. Now if it messed with it a little, I'd be okay, I'd rather have an uncorroded example. Alternatively, I can send it to a buddy of mine who used to work at NCS and have him deal with it, which honestly sounds like the best idea.

I'm at MS-63, but am not an expert in this series.
As an aside I love Verdicare. It's a shame it is no longer made. I no longer us it on my red cents as it does tend to darken the coins. However for RB or Brown...like I said..I LOVE IT.

I'm seeing just the lightest of rub on the tips of arrows I think and weak around the diamonds but I don't think it's enough to go into AU territory. MS64 for me as well. Coin sure has excellent eye appeal! A stunning look. Quote: I'd be a little nervous that VerdiCare might affect the color of the coin. I've never had Verdi-Care change the color of any of my coins yet, I've left a couple Two Cent coins in it for over a week that were really corroded. But of course your millage may vary.

Beautiful coin and I'd leave as is, I don't see any corrosion, unless on reverse at bottom.

GrapeCollects said... Quote: This is a copper-nickel coin and doesn't get color designations. I didn't know that! I only have 1 IHC that's uncirculated so I'm not really up on these, but I always thought they gave them color designations! I'll be reading up on these over the next few days. PLEASE, teach me more!

Yeahhhhhh. It's getting conserved and regarded.

That small patch of corrosion obviously had an impact. Hope the conservation doesn't affect the beautiful toning!

As per usual, looks a lot different than Not-So-Trueview.
Good luck! Post some before and after pics along the way.

Then I'll change it to Occasionally - Trueview!
I do feel it is undergraded. Out of curiosity, what were you hoping for on this one?

I was hoping for a 65 or so. I think the corrosion may have hurt it. On the bright side, it looks like it's just on the surface.
