this is a bit odd, This coin was struck as a MAD strike - moving the IN closer to the edge, combine it with a little DDD and we may get results like this.

Agree this is a combination of at least two (maybe three) effects. What's puzzling is the isolation of the effect(s) on just the "IN" of IGWT.

"Mint Assisted Mischief" (paraphrasing, forget the actual terminology) is something listed on the reference error page/site.

https://www.error-ref.com/intention...made-errors/ Here. Whether it is or not, idk, just throwing it out there. Plus there are DIE modifications and such. Whether it's any of those, idk. It's just to randomly isolated with no other obvious indications to something we've seen before.

Removed from a bezel that created a "lucky" novelty coin?
The bezel can push metal around.

Can you get us an image of the coin looking directly at the edge by the 'IN'?

A 'bezel' is a ring people put on a coin or medal so a chain can be attached to it for a neckless.

The areas on the outer edge over 'IN' and 'GOD' Looks like this coin was used in a coin toss and those areas were the looser hitting the concrete. Note the rim edge was pushed more above the 'IN' area. Note the edge above this are on the rim? This could be a contact/distortion post strike. Possibly during the removal from the chamber, that altered that area. If it is seen on one side, that maybe the case. But this is not a plus for the coin. It is just damage post strike to the coin. The other areas also happened post strike. This coin is a spender or melt if you are saving copper cents. But this in not a die variety. Just post strike damage to this coin.

Thank you for your feedback. I value all analysis.
In the absence of a reasonable explanation for the significant distortion of the "IN" this coin will remain, in my opinion, an unexplained numismatic phenomenon. It will be held and uniquely valued until a comparable, comprehensible and example surfaces.
