Thank you for the response.
I was trying to tie in condition to the equation. While those coins are expensive, they probably aren't going to get much worse in album.

A Dansco might not be an Air-Tite, but like hfjacinto all of my finest coins go into the 7070.

My opinion is that those coins (Native American Dolars), due to their metal composition, would fair just as well in a Dansco as in flips, airtites, or slabs so I'd put them in regardless of condition or value.

I only put circulated or inexpensive ms and proofs in albums ( Jefferson nickels for example). I do have an 1889-cc Morgan in a dansco as it's only in fine condition. I put my best raw ms Morgan's in air tites or slabs then placed in litehouse albums or 3 ring binders. I wouldn't put an uncirculated Morgan or peace in a dansco or Whitman personally. |

I am an ancients and World collector, so due the the wide variation, and the need to describe each coin, all of them are in 2x2's and in archival quality albums, irrespective of their value.
Some of the most valuable coins have a protective acrylic sheet inside the 2x2, and all of the most valuable coins are in a smaller sized album, and stored separately in a small, well hidden safe.
If I were to be a specialist collector of North American coins, most of them would be in albums as described above, with date acquired and for price paid, (gives a good record and helps with provenance)
but
any coin with high value and any coin in MS=60 and above also with high value,
would most probably stored and displayed in slabs, and in a 12 pocket page slab album. A separate sheet would be included in the album to record date acquired and price paid for each coin, - (also to help with provenance).

I have all my modern coins in Dansco albums, this includes all the golden dollars right from the OGP sets. It is my opinion that handling (circulation and greasy fingers) does the most damage to them. All the ones in my albums look mint fresh. |

If you put your coins in albums but have valuable ones in slabs, what do you do with that open slot? I was trying with putting a similar coin in the album but backwards to signify that it was owned but kept elsewhere.
Is be interested to see some pics of your collections in 2x2 albums. I've heard about skiing that way not on a wide scale.

Wow! Putting in the proof coins is something I never thought of. I think the cameo really makes it pop. Are those Barbers proof?

I put proofs in all my Dansco albums (Cent through Dollars) without batting an eye.
