Canadian getting that 1893-S in MS-66 would be tough since none are known to exist. There is, however, one MS-67 specimen graded by PCGS. I repeat: ONE :)

I love the dark colored VF-XF Morgans. The dark color just makes the coin look better. And knowing that they were circulated is the big kicker for me. Just think of the history each coin has.

Perhunt29,

Just to follow up on the type set recommendation, take a look at Bryan1315's link, a really nice example...

It seems like no matter what I add to my collection I am never satisfied. I am always looking for something and when I finally get it, I try to get something better. I roll search when I am broke, but actively search out and buy coins when I have the money.

For me that has always been an irritation. Which is why I have so many duplicate sets. I start with one Album of Mercury dimes, then upgrad it and the excess goes into #2. Then from #2 to #3, #3 to #4 and on and on and on. Now just finishing #12 and thinking about #13. Same with many, many other coins. No end.

A complete 10 cent coin collection, with ALL the tough dates - 1822, 1809, 1916D. I look a lot at rarity when coin collecting.

what about the 1894 s?

Surly you jest!! A roll of BU 1893-S Morgans to start, one BU roll each of all S, CC, and O, Morgans. One BU roll of all low mintage Philadelphia Morgans. One BU roll each of all Peace dollar coins. A complete BU collection of Barber halves and Quarters for sure. The finest specimens of Flying Eagle cents. A complete BU collection of all Liberty Halves and Quarters. Also 1000 mixed specimens of the finest Greek and Roman coins known. I'm just getting started, more later...

I would like to put together a set consisting of a different type of dollar coin from each mint. For example...

Carson City - Morgan dollar
Charlotte - Indian Princess Gold Dollar, Large Head
Dahlonega - Indian Princess Gold Dollar, Small Head
Denver - Peace dollar
New Orleans - Liberty Head Gold Dollar
Philadelphia - Draped Bust
San Francisco - Liberty Seated
West Point - Silver Eagle

The coins would not need to be in mint state, but each should have GREAT eye appeal. I have been thinking about this set for a while, but a few of these coins are out of my budget. Maybe someday.

Wow, thats a doosey of a question. Well, for me it would be:

Full Date/MM/Die Variety BU set of Kennedy halves, including proofs and silver proofs

Full Date/MM/Die Variety BU set of Walking Liberty halves, including proofs

Full Date/MM/Die Variety BU set of Trade dollars, including proofs

Full Date/MM/Die Variety BU set of red Two Cent Pieces, including proofs

Full Date/MM/Die Variety BU set of Indian Quarter and Half Eagles, including proofs (why not?)

Full US Type collection, in BU condition (fat chance, but one can hope can't they?)

Granted, all of this will likely cost more than I could possibly make in five lifetimes, but there you have it.

Allowing all my already collected sets to continue mutating upward in condition and value. It isn't, after all, "JUST MONEY".

Wow, this is a fun one! For me it would be 2 x 1700-1804 type sets (including Colonials, forgot about that at first!) in XF-AU (though I don't need an 1804 dollar, I'll get by without)

I'd like to have two so I can work on selling the weakest link to replace it with one I like better, but I never have that "empty" feeling of being without one during the transaction! ; )

An 1804 silver dollar and matching proof eagle. The 1913 Liberty nickel in PR66, the Eliasberg owned coin...
Realistically? The classic legacy coins are great, but you have to be well heeled to be able to afford even a decent type set. There are so many set stoppers in a complete MS63 Morgan set, you might as well mortgage your soul in order to afford them all!

There's quite a few moderns that have both good design and appreciability. Cherrypicking and choosing wisely is the key, since the majority of moderns today may well be the classics of tomorrow.
