Be interesting to find out if it was cut or if it's a broken planchet. I don't think it's cut but it may have had a little help finishing the break. I'll find out for sure in a week or so.

Hmmm... looking carefully... are there tiny hidden hinges and when you release them - maybe the entire coin will snap into place? OK, maybe not!

Well it has arrived and it IS a broken planchet not cut. The break does appear to be old but I'm still checking it over. It also appears that the coin was orignally cracked most of the way acoss and someone helped finish the break.

Interesting. So you think the planchet was cracked as it was released into circulation, but still together....and then after a few years of circulating, the crack broke the entire coin in half? I can't imagine it ever circulated as half a coin(who would accept it?).
