The only pocket piece I ever had was my "emergency dime" crammed inside a space in my wallet for making phone calls back when old tech was still in use and I was a teen. Although I had to upgrade it to an "emergency quarter" as time went by.

I used to carry an encapsulated proof silver dollar. Not an American one, but an Australian one. The normal circulating Australian dollar coin is of aluminium bronze, not silver. Occasionally I ask: "Have you ever seen a silver dollar?" The two most common responses are that one expects to see a Morgan dollar, or that Australian silver dollars do not exist, and I am then challenged to produce the coin. My coin was bought as a single, and came from the Masterpieces In Silver Set. It weighs about 11.5 grammes, and is about one inch in diameter. It fits in my wallet, and is not too cumbersome to carry.

I always carry a 1964 English Penny. It's more out of interest than anything else. I polished it a few years ago (don't worry they are very common)and now I am just watching it change. At one point it had some beautiful rainbow toning. Steve

I am kinda in the same boat as cdn44fan => when I golf, I use a 1967 centenial quarter as my "lucky" ball-marker .... but no matter how many times a play, I seem to always hover around bogey to double-bogey golf ... => lucky quarter for sale!?

Sometimes if I know I am going somewhere, I will bring a few of my old coins such as an Indian Head cent, Buffalo and Liberty nickels. At the campus bookstore, I showed the 1888 Indian Head cent to this foreign girl that works there and she was like "Oooooh my goodness!" At first she thought it said 1988!

I carry an 1881 S Morgan dollar. Coin dealer was talking to someone on the phone and mentioned a "Billy The Kid" coin. After he got off the phone, I asked him what a "Billy The Kid" coin was. He said legend has it when Billy The Kid was shot, he only had 1 dollar on him. An 1881 S Morgan in his pants pocket. So I thought, ya know what, what the heck, I like that. I'm going to do that too. Read once about a collector/numismatist who just got elected to the Louisiana legislature recently named Paul Hollis. He carries a 2009 UHR in his pocket. Wow.

I'm sure I'd lose it if I had one, but I've come across some interesting conversation pocket pieces of other collectors at the local shops.

Quote: Was it a Po-01 proir to pocket miles? It was very close to being Po-01 if it wasn't. Its ungradeable because it looks like it had been dropped a couple times and made a couple flat spots on the edge but I am sure it would be Po-01 if it was able to be graded

I personally don't have a pocket piece. I feel that even if I did have a coin worthy I would not carry it around. There would be too great a risk of having it fall out or having it get lost in the dryer or something.

I carry a 1921 Morgan in an air-tite in my watch pocket. My grandmother gave it to me, and as such is my most prized coin.

A 1977-S Proof Eisenhower dollar. It is now impaired, of course. It is the coins closest to when and where I was born, being from the East Bay of CA and born in 1977. I have had it for about 5 years now and carry it most every day.

I carry a 1993 Spitzbergen 100 Roubles token with me. No real reason other than I enjoy learning about the Arctic and plan to go to Spitzbergen someday.

I was carrying 4 wheaties around trying to see how worn down I could eventually get them, but they eventually got misplaced. I started carrying a couple of Ikes but took them out of my pocket since they are kind of big. I guess a half may work.
