Went over the dig spot again and it was still going off so I kept digging and 2 inches deeper was a 1772 mills halfpenny. Report this Post to the Staff

copper nickel daddy Pillar of the Community United States 2224 Posts	Posted 03/13/2012 10:22 pm When I got my first detector many many years ago ("Radio Shack Special") I took it to a local baseball diamond. Under third base I got a very strong signal. A Hibachi! About a foot and a half down. Just as I was about to leave that day I was standing on the pitcher's mound. I looked down and there was a dime on the mound. Turned out to be a 1943 Mercury. Sitting right on the ground; go figure.
