Anyone else see the similarity between the 1992 Aviation Series and this coin?
Yes! That series was the first RCM product I thought of when I saw the new 1812 coin. I don't own any of the Aviation coins, but I did pick up one of 1812 coins.

Double entendre?

I don't understand the reference. I don't see any sexual double meaning. Did you mean déjà vu?

All it means is a double intention. Usually associated with phrases, but here I mean a possible secondary meaning to the coin. Was the style chosen specifically to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the beginning of the Aviation series?

Just picked up a Young Wildlife Series specimen set from the post office. I was surprised to see that the loonie had the dates 1987-2012. Are these in the uncirculated sets also, or is this a new variety?

I saw another one of these specimen loonies from the set listed on ebay. It has the double dates also. Appears the RCM artwork on the website is in error and that your loonie is perfectly normal.

How could the RCM accidently create a specimen finish reverse die?

The only possibility would be multiple varieties. Probably not the case, but not completely ruled out at this point.

Another new batch of coins are coming out soon. I'd say around August 27th. Maybe a week earlier for MC members. Of course, I can't post the pics here.

Do a google search for "RFD collector and numismatic Coins discussion thread"
Go to page 431 and take a look at the links towards the bottom, by somebody named "4flava"

The snake coins (classic & lotus) are not a surprise as they were announced in 2010.

You can see them here:

Interesting new Grey Cup SE silver dollar.

I can only hope to receive my first Grosbeak before this second one is issued. ;)

The $150 fine gold 2013 Year of the Snake will be priced at $798.88. The 2012 Year of the Dragon sold for $688.88. And I bought my 2010 Year of the Tiger for $555.55. Getting pretty expensive.

Our friends at "RFD collector and numismatic Coins discussion thread" are finding our no leaking coin image rules here on this forum quite amusing.

@canadian_coins: Luckily you are not the one doing the photos for the Mint, otherwise I will go bankrupt. Your photos are so nice they make the coins ... mouth watering. BTW, did you take the coin out of the capsule before scanning it?

"did you take the coin out of the capsule before scanning it?"

Yes, to get the best scan possible.
