Quote: Which location? Or any POs I am not sure if this 75% off discount is an overall policy in POs or just a special case for the specific PO only. The PO with 75% off is located in Vancouver.

Hi Dodola, Could you tell me the location in Vancouver? I live in Vancouver and went to the Main Post Ofice, the Burrard P.O., and the Pine Street P.O. None of them had those coins, let alone 75% off. If you can't give the exact address, could you me if it a SDM location? Or the neighbourhood it is in?

Hi all,
I've been lurking here for a couple months but read this thread and wanted to join in. This is a great forum and I'm glad very glad I found it.
1. Congratulations dodola, those were some awesome finds. Especially the LadyBug and the 2010 Bronze set.
2. I am quite curious about the policies for discounting NCLT coins at Canada Post locations. I would like to contribute what little knowledge and experience I have as I would very much like to hear about others' experiences.
At one CP outlet they routinely discount coins 50% when new coins are released. Last year I bought 3 2010 crystal snowflakes for $52.50 each and 2 2010 crystal raindrops for $55 each. After that I went around town to all the other CPs looking for similar bargains and found none.
Yesterday I was at the same location and picked up a 2011 snowflake coin and a BU 2011 silver dollar both 50% off. So today I did a little driving to several other CP outlets and again no others had their 2011 coins on sale.
So my conclusion is that each of the Canada Post outlets is independently operated and managers makes their own decision about discounting coins and I can stop wasting my time with the outlets that never have discounted coins.
Of course if anyone disagrees and has reason to believe that discounting coins is a corporate decision and comes from a head office and seeing coins on sale at one outlet means I should continue to check all the others I would like to hear it.

ferritin This image was posted on another site and referenced here in another thread relating to the latest issue of coins. http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/21...mg1037bc.jpgIt seems that discounts are available at all outlets, but my guess is that all outlets don't have inventory. My local PO only had the 2011 wedding set and the thank you coin at 50% off. @canadian_coins: good idea, though you'll have to sell the occasional stamp and hand out tax forms every April.

Thanks Dodola; Maple Ridge is too far for me. It figures that a P.O. out in the suburbs of Vancouver will have stock of these coins. These coins would be picked up quickly in the City of Vancouver itself.
BTW, Canada Post online did have a sale of up to 75% off on Canada Day Weekend. It was mostly stamps though.

I wonder if they accidentally rang in 75% for all of them. The 07,08,09 are listed 75% off. The 2010 are supposed to be 60% off and the 2011 are 50% off. I wish I had that cashier at my post office :)

Unfortunately my Postal Office rarely stocks coins because they don't sell them. But they are willing to locate and bring in what they can find elsewhere. I would have loved to get the snowflakes at 50% off!
