Well, 100% of mine come from the post office, in a single purchase. The ones I bought subsequently didn't have any marks. Then the 3 I got from the mint when I went didn't have the marks either. So far we're at 13 out of 102 coins, with at least 5 coming from the post office, at least 2 with marks only on the reverse and 4 with marks on both sides. For people with the marks, when reporting so here, it'd be interesting to know if marks are on both sides, and where the coin(s) is coming from.

Any idea what the premium would be on this? lets say 10% of coins have this error.. making mintage about 25K.

Well, so far, only 1 coin with those marks came from the mint, the rest from canada post. Just to begin, that would set the price to at least 25$. The regular coin sells for 30-35$, so I'd be tempted to say at least that. If I didn't have the coin, I'd probably be willing to pay at least 40-45$, but ultimately, it'll be a matter of how many are available and how many people want one.

I'm now at 16/147, or 12.2%. I'm still missing info from cownick to know if his coin has the marks on 1 or 2 sides and where it comes from. So far, there's not a clear trend in source, about half come from the mint (either bought at the store or online) and the rest bought in post offices. There's also 2 where the source isn't known.

Thanks, that's a nice sample :) Brings me to 16/159 or 11.1%. I learned an interesting tid-bit about the mint today. I spoke with a guy I know who works there in the machines (the joy of living in Ottawa), he says there's many new guys on training at the mint and they make a lot of mistakes, he's not so surprised that die clash went through. I guess we'd never get such a statement officially from the mint, but anyway, that explains a lot, doesn't it? As long as they'll be letting die clashes through, I won't complain :)
